About Cheyenne

Wow...you want to know more about me?  Awesome.

I have been interested in just about everything as early as I can remember.  I remember dressing my sisters (and brother) up, doing their hair and makeup, and hosting a photo shoot with my green and yellow Crayola camera.  I used to set up my karaoke machine and preform Britney Spears for my Nanny.  I hosted parties in my bedroom where I offered appetizers (Oreos), special lighting (colored light bulbs placed in every socket), and loud music (Backstreet Boys).  I would write stories and songs, then pretend I could play an instrument.  I would rearrange my bedroom at least once every couple of weeks.  I would put on dramatic makeup and tease my hair to put on a solo runway show.

Then...I grew up.  And now, I do pretty much the same things. :)

My husband and I moved to Austin from Corsicana, a small town south of Dallas in February of 2010.  It's only about 200 miles, but it's a world away.  They don't even tease their hair here...  We call Austin style "hippie chic."  :)

I like to do a lot of things - cook, bake, write, take photos, explore music, DIYs, and so on.  I've never really been the "homemaker" type of person, but I suppose I've reached my nesting phase.  I'm now enjoying the Martha Stewart segment on the Today show.  I find myself experimenting with new spices.  And my house is actually clean 90% of the time!  I'm not really great at any one thing, but I'm trying...and these are my adventures in trying.

I am a real girl.  I'm not a size 0.  I'm not an expert on anything really.  I'm a college drop out (for now).  And I know what it's like to be broke...really broke.  Even when we had an average balance of $11 in our bank account, we still found a way to look and feel good.  My blog focuses on real (easy, awesome) options for real life for real people.  Budget people.  Chic people.  DIY people.  Just real people.
